HOT WATER TANK
FLUSH / DRAIN
Flushing of the hot water tank is recommended to be done every 3 to 6 months to remove sediment build-up.
Sediment build-up can lead to many problems, but most importantly, it becomes a barrier between the heat source at the bottom of the tank and the water it is trying to heat. This barrier forces the tank to work harder to heat the water which further breaks down the integrity of the tank floor and can lead to major water leaks and damages in your home, as well as, replacement of your hot water tank all together.
Regular draining prevents sediment build-up which allows the water to heat up quicker, and in turn, uses less fuel burning in the process. This will improve the efficiency and longevity of your hot water tank.
